Q: How much would be fair to get AC installed on a 1977 Camaro?
Hi guys i was wondering around how much would be a fair price to have A/C installed on a 1977 camaro that used to have A/C but no longer has it.
Thanks,
J.
A: It depends. Are there any pieces left? Dryer is 50 bucks or more….condensor is over 100….evaporator is over 100….compressor is a few hundred….then the lines. Go to a junkyard and get your parts off of an olds delta or another GM sedan. Good luck.

Q: How many miles per gallon do you get with a 1977 Camaro?
How many do you get and is there any way I can increase it?
A: Bud, it’s a 1977 Camaro. How many people you run around with that has an old Camaro, Mustang, Dodge Challenger/Charger/Monte Carlo, etc, etc.? It already gets ya 15-18 mpg in town AND 21-24 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY,If it is half way decent I’ll trade ya a 1997 Eldorado Caddy that gets 21 mpg in town and 26-28 mpg on the highway
Q: Changing rear end on my 1977 camaro?
Ive recently have bought a 1977 camaro which the guy who sold it had put a 383 stroker (or so he claims) in it but it winds really high and i believe its stuck in first gear but i also believe the gears are to high. It has 4:11 gears on it but i was wondering what is the best gears for top end?
Thank you
A: I own a shop, a drag car & truck, and think this; If its wound out at 55 mph, then it for sure has a very low gear in the rearend. If you wish to get top end speed, then change the rearend to a 2.73:1 ratio, and find a transmission that has overdrive such as a 700R-4 or a 4L60E, and you should see 160 mph without a problem. If the guy told you it had a 383, and it is really up there on the rpm’s at 55 mph, then its probably setup for the drag strip. It sounds like it has maybe a lower gear than a 4.11:1 ratio. Try this; Shift the gears manually. Start off in 1st, and shift it to 2nd, and then to 3rd to see if it shifts. If it does, then its probably just that low geared, and you will have to change the rearend to get it back within a streetable range.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!
Q: What is the difference between the 1977 Camaro LT RS and SS?
A: Actually, there wasn’t a SS Camaro in 1977. There were Z28’s, and I believe that there were also LT and maybe RS models. Perhaps the base model was called a SC (sport coupe). I am not an expert, I just like the Camaros.
The Z28 had ground effects and a number of other extras. Some suspension upgrades would have been part of the package. The Z28 was basically similar to what one might call a Camaro SS. But there weren’t any Camaro SS’s built (from that time) until 1996.
There were several engines available. There was the 305 V8, the 350 V8, and also a V6. I don’t know- perhaps the V6 was the 3.8L V6. The Z28 always came from the factory with a V8 engine.
My information may not be correct nor accurate. I am not a collector or specialist, I just like the Camaros very much, and have owned a few of them (mostly third gens).

Q: Does anyone know what the gas mileage is for a 1977 Chevy Camaro?
I tried looking it up on yahoo and google, but nothing came up. All I found was a LOT of “spam”.
A: just fill tank up, write down your mileage, then drive it for awhile, when you fill it up, write mileage; figure out mile driven; then figure out how many miles driven. ie 100 miles driven / 10 gal. used = 10mpg 100/10=10
Q: max rpm to change gear for 1977 camaro?
hi. i have 1977 camaro base with 6l engine fully restored.
its manual with 5 speed gearbox.
i want to know whats the red line to change gear from 1 to 2 ,3 , 4.
whats a good brand for rpm gauge thats works for my car?
many thanks.
A: any tachometer will work on your car, sun brand tachometers are one of the best and summit racing sells them, as far as shifting RPM on your engine I’m not sure but 5,000 RPM is a good guess.
Q: does any one have parts for a camaro 1977? i need the parts?

Q: How much for a 1977 Chevrolet Camaro (z28)?
My uncle is looking at one of these and doesn’t know what a good price is for it, the one he is looking at has about 27,000 miles and i am assuming it is in running condition. I have spent about 4 hours searching for some info on it and i cannot find much. Please only respond if you have helpful input, on where i can look for pricing or know it yourself.
A: NADA:
Low retail is $6000
High retail is $11,200
Unfortunately the price for cars like this is what the market will bear. I paid $5200 for a Monte Carlo SS Areocoupe and sold it for $13000. Some things are worth more to some people than they are to others.
Q: Is a new carpet kit out of a 1977 trans am the same for a 1973 camaro?

Q: Where can I find a mechanic in or around New York, NY for a 1977 Chevy Camaro that needs exhaust repair?
In particular I’m looking for a mechanic thats had a solid track record with old chevy’s and their muffler issues
A: 77 Camaro exhausts are very, very simple. You can source a good system from practically anywhere. If you are looking for something custom, look for a performance shop. I know of a good one about 40 minutes or so outside of the city – in western Passaic County, NJ, but they’d be worth the drive only if you’re going to do something a little more higher end.
Midas did the Magnaflow and cat on my old 79 Camaro a few years back, and they did a fine job.
